I don’t know how everyone else survives the Winter Months but here are a few things I NEED to survive the chilly temps winter is gifting us.

  1. Tea
  2. Hot Water Bottles
  3. Scarves
  4. Books

You’re probably thinking, what about jackets?! You don’t have a good recommendation for a jacket Lisa!!!!! No! I don’t, I bought my winter jacket while I was on holiday in England. My mum and I went to town in Shrewsbury and found this cute little shop called Rock Bottom, super cute and a mix of modern mum meets boho girlfriend…here’s the link for the jacket, except mine is a bright neon yellow, totally clashes with everything but I love it.  If you are still looking for your winter coat, some styles that I have liked: puffer jackets (not the ones that make you look like the Michelin Man). My yellow jacket is quite puffy, and sometimes I find it TOO bulky, but my favourite puffer jackets are usually the ‘light down jackets’, they look more form-fitting and less marshmallow man-shaped. Another trend I have been loving is Trench Coats. I have been so excited to see long trench coats come into style and seeing how versatile they are and well they can wear through the winter, always looking cozy and chic when paired with a chunky scarf. I am currently on the hunt for a good fall/winter trench coat that I don’t drown in, but it’s hard out here being 5″ even and wanting to wear oversized clothes.

Moooooving along, Tea. I grew up in England, so PGTips basically runs through my veins, and tea is a huuuuuuge staple for me this winter! I am trying to s-l-o-w-l-y wean myself off of coffee as well as dairy products SO I’ve really been relying on my tea’s to get me through the days. This winter I plan on carrying around more tea bags with me so I don’t feel stuck when I need caffeine (craving coffee) but I know I can’t have any of the coffee that’s at work or don’t want to drop $$$ at a coffee shop.

Hot Water Bottles. I don’t know if this is just a British thing. Or, if I’m just a really really old lady in a young-ish body. OR, this is just a family thing my family does… but when the temperature starts dropping outside, we start bringing out our HWB’s. For one, it’s super easy to use. Boil water – put water in the bottle –  close bottle. It stays warm, foreverrrrr. And, and, and it can go places with you. Sitting on the couch? No problem, curl up next to it. Wanna lay in bed? I put it at the end of my bed by my feet. Getting in the car? Throw it on your lap and stay warm while driving. There’s the classic red HWB, personally, I love the kids decorative HWB’s that have animals or cute designs on them.. (like this)

Scarves. Do I have to explain this? I am a scarf lover. I am most fond of the scarves that are so large they don’t even look cute anymore because your body has been swallowed by this thin blanket that’s somehow appropriate to wear around your neck (even if it’s trailing after you). I like to knit scarves sometimes if I get a jacket, like my neon yellow puffer jacket, that matches nothing. That way I know I won’t get annoyed with myself that nothing matches, or if I get bored of my scarves, I can always make a new one for cheap and more personalized to my style!!!!!

Books. I don’t know if it’s just me, but for the past two winters, I’ve been trying to avoid getting sucked into the Netflix portal of binge watching. I also miss reading, so I’ve thrown myself back into reading and am taking a Netflix hiatus. I also think it’s kind of nice to always have a book on me, it’s a good productive activity that I feel good about doing afterwards, rather than just scrolling Instagram for the 100th time! And, if I am ever out of something to do, it’s a good easy thing to have and just pick up and kill some time if you know you’re going to wait for a while. I am hoping to push myself to read more books this year, I’ll try to keep up with my reading through this blog too.

Not a huge post, but wanted to share a couple things that make my winter just a little bit easier. If you have any book recomendations, tea flavor suggestions, or if you are that rare american who DOES use a HWB drop a comment down below~I’m interested to know!

Lovvee. Now I feel like I need a hot water bottle in my life. Also, my friend just finished “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin, and sent it to me for Christmas. I am two chapters in and really liking it so far!
