For the past year, I have been saying that I want to join a book club + never actually doing anything about it. So when the opportunity arose to join a book club with fellow book lover + previous blog guest PLANTUCKY I couldn’t say no.

So, What is A Book Club?!

Kinda serious question, but honestly I had to look it up. First of all, it is a gathering of friends (or strangers who aren’t friends yet) who share a common interest in books! Second of all, it is a break from possibly a routine-d life, the act of “book club” may be an act of routine, but you can customize each and every meeting. Third of all, perspective. You get to hear a different perspective from your book club pals + see the world through another set of eyes during your meetings. Also, prepare to pick up some books you would have otherwise looked past on bookshelves. Which is good! I love book recommendations, I love finding new authors and genres that I would’ve not known about.

First Book: How to Build A Girl by Caitlin Moran.

It’s kinda exciting to finally be in a book club since I’ve just been in my #messypotbookclub of one for so long. It’s nice to have other people to talk with about these books + hear their perspectives on these books! Also, am I officially a cool adult who is in a fun book club, or have I entered granny territory being in an organized reading?? I like to think I’m the first option, I mean who cares! I’m cool, right?!!? Moving along..

What are you reading? Are you in a book club?
let me know <2 xx messypot

I always wanted to join a book club but it’s not really a thing here in Ireland. I did take a contemporary womens literature class two semesters ago and loved it! I know it’s not exactly the same thing but we read some great books and had discussions. The accountability of it helped me because I had to read otherwise I couldn’t participate meant I had to find time. Plus it was coursework so… I’m currently reading Cure by Jo Merchant . It’s good so far.

I’ve never joined a book club, but I do love to read. Unfortunately, I don’t get around to it nowadays, but I have a pretty big Stephen King collection. The thing I love about reading is you get to visualize what is being described.
